Yavuz Karakoç (born July 26, 1988), is a Turkish ice hockey forward currently playing in the Turkish Ice Hockey Super League for Zeytinburnu Belediyespor. He is a member of the Turkey national men's ice hockey team. The 1.80 m (5 ft 11 in) tall player at 78 kg (172 lb) shoots left-handed.[1]

Playing career

Club

Karakoç began his sports career playing for İzmir BB GSK in the 2003–04 season of the Turkish Ice Hockey Super League. In 2005, he transferred to Kocaeli B Kağıt SK, where he enjoyed his team's champion title in the 2006–07 season and runners-up in the 2005–06, 2007–08, 2008–09, 2010–11, 2011–12 seasons. After seven seasons with Kocaeli B Kağıt SK in İzmit, he signed with the Istanbul-based club Zeytinburnu BSK. His team became runners-up in the 2013–14 season, and champion in the 2014–15 and 2015–16 seasons.[1]

Karakoç played at the first round of the 2015–16 IIHF Continental Cup in Belgrade, Serbia. His team finished the first round of the 2016–17 IIHF Continental Cup in Sofia, Bulgaria, and advanced to the second round in Jaca, Spain.[1]

Karakoç was admitted to the national U-18 team and played at the IIHF World U18 Championship Division III matches of 2005 qualification, 2005 and 2006.[2][3][4]

He became member of the national under-20 team, and took part at the IIHF World U20 Championship matches in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.[5][6][7][8]

Karakoç debuted in the Ice Hockey World Championships playing for the Turkey national team at the 2007 IIHF World Championship Division II.[9] Since then, he has been taking part at all tournaments, which the national team competes in.[1][10]
