Yoshizumi Ishino (石野 良純 Ishino Yoshizumi) is a Japanese molecular biologist, best known for discovering the CRISPR in 1987.[1]
Biography
Ishino received his BS, MS and PhD degree in 1981, 1983 and 1986, respectively, from Osaka University.[2] From 1987 to 1989, he gained a post-doctoral fellowship at Yale University (Dieter Söll's laboratory).[3]
In 2002, he became a professor at Kyushu University.[4] Since October 2013, he is also a member of the NASA Astrobiology Institute, University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign.[5]
