Saint Yostos El Antony, Yustos El Anthony, or Abouna Yustos or The Silent Monk Arabic: يسطس الانطونى (1910 - 1976) was a Christian monk from Egypt. He was admitted to the veil in Monastery of St. Anthony. His feast day is celebrated on December 17 and on Kiahk 8 in the Egyptian calendar used by the Coptic Church.
His life
He was born in Zarabie El-Muharraq. His father named him Nagyib. All his live he loved God very much and asked Him to grant the way for life in God. He leave his father, mother and brother in his 30 years and went to Monastery St.Paul.
He lived and worked in the Monastery St.Paul about 2 years but was not accepted to monkshood. Once when he ring to bell to mass, ribbon severed in his hands, after this he needed to leave this monastery.
He went to Monastery of St. Anthony in November 1941, that was not far away. Bishop of monastery accepted him to stay and work here. And after some years Naguib was ordered to monks.
He is famous for his saintly life, silence and asceticism. In his monks life he told only "what the time now?" (for tell us that we must take care about our deeds every time and not forget to confess our sins) and "Thanks God".
Pope Shenouda said about Father Yostos that "he is the living example of the 4th century monks".
