Zenoss Inc. is a company that develops hybrid IT monitoring and analytics software. The company was founded in 2005 and is headquartered in Austin, Texas. Zenoss delivers IT service assurance for enterprises with its open-source software, Zenoss Core and its commercial software, Zenoss Service Dynamics, for physical, virtual and cloud-based IT infrastructures.

History

Zenoss was founded in Annapolis, Maryland in 2005.

In February 2006, Zenoss launched its first open-source IT monitoring product Zenoss Core. In August 2006, Zenoss closed $4.8 million Series A financing round led by Boulder Ventures and Intersouth Partners. By November 2006, Zenoss Core became the most downloaded commercial open source IT management platform.

In 2008, Zenoss expanded its open-source systems and network management with Zenoss Professional Edition for enterprises. By 2010, Zenoss was recognized by Inc. 500 in the list of fastest growing private companies.

In 2011, Zenoss launched Zenoss Service Dynamics, a commercial version of its open-source offering with service impact management solution for enterprises and service providers. By 2013, Zenoss Service Dynamics was updated to deliver “service-level” context across physical, virtual and private and public cloud environments, as well as hybrid deployments.

In January 2015, Zenoss was recognized by Forbes in the list of “The Best Cloud Computing Companies and CEO To Work For In 2015”.

The Zenoss free and open-source platform, Zenoss Core, allows system administrators to monitor availability, inventory/configuration, performance and events.

The Zenoss commercial offering, Zenoss Service Dynamics, provides hybrid IT monitoring platform for physical, virtual and cloud-based infrastructure that allows enterprises to monitor components including compute, storage, network, converged infrastructure, applications and unified communications systems.

ZenPacks, a plug-in or extension to Zenoss Core or Zenoss Service Dynamics, give customers the ability to extend capabilities of unified IT monitoring of their virtualized and cloud-based infrastructures.
