The 16th Annual Anugerah Musik Indonesia was held on July 2, 2013, at the Studio 8 RCTI in Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta. The show was broadcast live on RCTI and was hosted by Raffi Ahmad, Giselle Anastasia, Donny "Ada Band", Tria "The Changcuters", and Naga "Lyla".

The show was a collaboration between Anugerah Musik Indonesia Foundation and RCTI. The theme of the show was Hidupkan Musikmu. Musicians, singers, and songwriter were nominated for 49 different categories in several fields. No senior or junior of view, they will compete to receive the award. The event was divided into three segments: AMI Awards Gala Night, Lifetime Achievement Awards, and The Winner's Concert.

Being nominated 10 times, Noah became the second most-nominated artist in Anugerah Musik Indonesia history for a single year and also became the biggest winner of the night with six wins (including Ariel, Uki, Lukman, Reza, David,[1] including Best of the Best Production Work for "Separuh Aku", Best Pop/Urban Album and Best of the Best Album, both for Seperti Seharusnya. Other winners included Bunga Citra Lestari and Cakra Khan, who won three awards. Once Mekel, Coboy Junior, Inna Kamarie, etc. were taking home two trophies each.

Kroncong legend veteran Waldjinah receiving the AMI Legend Awards for her contributed to the world of Kroncong and its influence was very strong in wider community, including domestic and international.[2]
