The 1993-94 NBA season was the Kings' 45th season in the NBA and 9th in Sacramento.[1] With top draft pick Bobby Hurley from Duke University, the Kings had a renewed optimism entering the season. However, in December, Hurley was involved in a life threatening automobile accident as was out for the remainder of the season after playing just 19 games.[2] At midseason, the Kings acquired Olden Polynice from the Detroit Pistons as they went on to finish sixth in the Pacific Division with a 28–54 record. Mitch Richmond averaged 23.4 points per game, and was selected to start for the Western All-Stars in the 1994 NBA All-Star Game. Following the season, Wayman Tisdale signed as a free agent with the Phoenix Suns.
