2000 Brady, Nebraska, tornado

The 2000 Brady, Nebraska Tornado was an F3 tornado that hit the Brady, Maxwell area on May 17, 2000. It was unusual compared to most tornadoes in that part of the state because it traveled to the northwest, while most twisters move in an easterly direction. The storm generated 27 severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings across Nebraska on May 17, and struck Missouri, Iowa, Indiana and Illinois the following day.[1]

Synopsis

The tornado downed numerous power lines and trees were uprooted. There was also damage to a variety of farm properties.[1] The tornado caused at least $30,000 in damage.[2] One dog was documented as having sensed the tornado and then warned his family.[3]

The event was also made into a Storm Stories episode, and is notable for the clarity of the video coverage it received.[4]
