The 2009–10 football season is Northampton Town Football Club's 32nd season in the Football League Two, the fourth division of English football, and their 95th as a professional club. It officially began on 1 July 2009, and will conclude on 30 June 2010, although competitive matches are only played between August and May. The team's new shirt supplier is Erreà, and the shirt sponsor is Jackson Grundy.

Season summary

The club began the 2009-2010 season in League Two for the first year since 2005, following a disappointing relegation the previous season. They are currently 6th in the table, with 66 points from 44 games.[1] Their leading goalscorer is Adebayo Akinfenwa with 16 goals in all competitions. They entered the FA Cup at the First Round stage and were eliminated at home to Southampton 3-2 in December. They entered the League Cup at the First Round stage and were eliminated this time away to Southampton 2-0.

Notable players to begin their careers with the Cobblers this season include Steve Guinan, Dean Beckwith, John Curtis, and Peter Gilbert.
