A. Gordon Wetmore

Arnold Gordon Wetmore (June 24, 1931 – June 9, 2016) was an American theologian who was president emeritus of the Nazarene Theological Seminary and a former president of the Northwest Nazarene College.

Early life and education

Wetmore received his undergraduate education at the Eastern Nazarene College (ENC) in Massachusetts. He then earned a doctor of ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. He has also received honorary degrees from ENC and NTS.[1]

Career and ministry

Wetmore has pastored churches in Quincy, Massachusetts, Kansas City, Missouri, Columbus, Ohio, and Monroe, Wisconsin and served as dean of students at alma mater ENC.[2] In 1983, Wetmore was elected president of the Northwest Nazarene College (NNC) and served there until 1992,[1] when he was elected president of the Nazarene Theological Seminary (NTS).[3] He retired in 2000 and lived with his wife in Olathe, Kansas,[2] until his death in 2016.[4]
