Brzeżno [ˈbʐɛʐnɔ] (German: Briesen) is a village in Świdwin County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-western Poland. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Brzeżno.[1] It lies approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) south of Świdwin and 86 km (53 mi) north-east of the regional capital Szczecin.
Before 1945 the area was part of Germany. After World War II and the subsequent border shift, the region was placed under Polish administration and ethnically cleansed according to the post-war Potsdam Agreement. The native German populace was expelled and replaced with Poles.
