Dattu is a village development committee in Darchula District in the Mahakali Zone of western Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 1832 people living in 344 individual households.It consist of 9 wards viz. Sakar, Thapala, Mali Dattu, Bait, Ulaini, Tali Dattu, Udyai, Kholi, Chuchai. The VDC south part separated by Mahakali river from India. Indian market viz Baluwako and Go Ghatiwagad had connected the VDC by hanging bridge over the Mahakali river. The bridge helps to access to Indian market and it gives all about trading business among the resident of Dattu VDC as well as other near by VDC people with Indians. The cultural relationship with India has also strengthen the tie among both coutnries resident.[1]
