Kamensky District (Russian: Ка́менский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[2] district (raion), one of the fifty-nine in Altai Krai, Russia. It is located in the north of the krai. The area of the district is 3,621 square kilometers (1,398 sq mi).[3] Its administrative center is town of Kamen-na-Obi (which is not administratively a part of the district).[1] Population: 12,025 (2010 Census);[4] 16,600 (2002 Census);[7] 16,977 (1989 Census).[8]
Administrative and municipal status
Within the framework of administrative divisions, Kamensky District is one of the fifty-nine in the krai.[1] The town of Kamen-na-Obi serves as its administrative center, despite being incorporated separately as a town of krai significance—an administrative unit with the status equal to that of the districts.[1]
As a municipal division, the district is incorporated as Kamensky Municipal District.[2] The town of krai significance of Kamen-na-Obi is incorporated separately from the district as Kamen-na-Obi Urban Okrug.[9]
