Literature

• Someone Comes to Town, Someone Leaves Town (2005)
• The 1992 Doctor Who novel Cat's Cradle: Warhead predicts a future in which London cabs have been replaced by motorcycles.
• Eon (1985) by Greg Bear is mostly set in 2005, 20 years after its first publication.

Television

• Johnny Test takes place.
• Doctor Who:
  • "Rose" (2005): Set in March
  • "The End of the World" (2005): The final scene is set here
  • "The Rings of Akhaten" (2013): Parts of the opening scenes are set in this year
  • "The End of Time: Part Two" (2010): Final scene with the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant), where he says goodbye to Rose for the last time and regenerates into the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith).

• The Transformers: The Movie (1986): The story takes place in 2005, 20 years after the events of the TV series.
• Bicentennial Man (1999): This movie begins in April 2005.

• Santa's Slay (2005): This comedy-horror film is set in the Christmas of that year.
• A Christmas Carol (2000): In his vision of the future with the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, Eddie Scrooge (Ross Kemp) wanders into a cemetery and comes across a gravestone, which turns out to be his own. The plate on the grave gives the year of his (possible) death as 2005.

• Super Glove Ball (1990): Set in 2005.
• Twisted Metal (1995): The tenth "Twisted Metal" competition takes place on Christmas Eve in the streets of Los Angeles.
• Gunblade N.Y. (1995): The Second Vietnam War begins on July 25, almost 30 years after the Fall of Saigon, as the reformed Viet Cong and Spetsnaz destroy the United Nations and attack the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn in New York City.
• Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Espionage Action (1998): The story is set in 2005, as rebel terrorist group FOXHOUND captures the Shadow Moses island in Alaska.
• SWAT 3: Close Quarters Battle (1999): The game is set in 2005, as the United Nations are about to sign a nuclear abolishment treaty in Los Angeles.
• TimeSplitters (2000): Part of the game is set in 2005.

• Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield (2003): The arrest of an aged Nazi war criminal touches off a Neo-fascist terror campaign in Western Europe and South America. According to the introduction, In 2005, (sixty years after the defeat of Nazi Germany) the terror starts again... Comics

• House of M (X-Men comic book event) (2005): November 2, 2005 is called M-Day in Marvel Comics, because that was when Scarlet Witch changed 200,000,000+ mutants into regular humans. There were 198 mutants left. Most of the ex-mutants later got their powers back after several years.
