Loop, Texas

Loop is a census-designated place and unincorporated community in Gaines County, Texas, United States.

The community was named for the loop of the postmaster's lasso.[1]

Loop, having no border or city limit and an approximate population of 232 people, is loosely defined as the homes along two road, Gaines County Road 303 and Texas Highway 83. Local industry is predominately related to cotton and peanut farming.

The community consists of several places of worship including the First Baptist Church and The Church of Christ. The local cemetery, maintained by Gaines County, is located between The Church of Christ and the Community Building.

The Loop Independent School District serves area students. The campus includes all grades from Kindergarten to Senior level. All students are contained on the single campus with a circular building for the primary school and with high school and middle school students sharing a long rectangular hallway.
