Biography

Narain (born 7 October 1979),is an Indian film actor, who has starred in Malayalam and Tamil films.He made his debut in Adoor Gopalakrishnan's Nizhalkuthu (2002). His performances in 4 the People (2004), Achuvinte Amma (2005), and Classmates (2006) cemented his status as an actor in Malayalam cinema. Narain's Tamil debut was in Mysskin's Chithiram Pesuthadi (2006). He was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Tamil for his performance in Anjathe (2008).

Personal Life


Narain was born in Kolkata, West Bengal.His father is T.M.Ramakrishnan and his mother is Shantha Kumari. He completed his schooling from Abu Dhabi Model School. After two and half years of dating, he married a TV host and program producer Manju Haridas on 26 August 2007 in Kozhikode.The couple is blessed with a daughter Tanmayaa Narain.

Career

After completing a course in cinematography at the Adyar Film Institute, Narain came into the film industry as an assistant to Rajeev Menon. He worked with him for many advertisements and also a film - Morning Raga. His first film was Nizhalkuthu by the veteran director Adoor Gopalakrishnan. His first commercial film 4 The People, brought him recognition and fame as an actor. In this sensational blockbuster, Narain's performance as the firebrand IPS officer Rajan Mathew was well noticed. 4 The People was dubbed in Tamil and Telugu. He portrayed a struggling lawyer, Emmanuel John, in Achuvinte Amma and also realistically played a doctor, Jeevan, in Sheelabathi. He also played notable role in Annorikal. Classmates brought him close to peoples heart. His debut Tamil movie was Chithiram Pesuthadi, which was declared a blockbuster. Through Panthaya Kozhi, produced by director Lal, he has been re-launched as an independent action hero in the Malayalam film industry. In 2008, he did another youth-oriented Malayalam movie MinnaminnikoottamThis film did quite well in box office. He has acted in more than 20 Malayalam movies already.[2]

His film Pallikoodam was highly performance oriented, playing the character of a collector Vetrivel. The film was directed by Thangar Bachchan. His performance in the film Anjaathe, directed by Mysskin, was critically acclaimed.

In 2009, Narain did a key role in Bhagyadevatha directed by Sathyan Anthikkad who had also gave him a success in Achuvinte Amma. The family oriented film starred Jayaram and Kanika- and Narain proved to be a star for this film. This was a box office success.

Narain played the lead role in P. T. Kunju Muhammed's Veeraputhran (2011). Almost all reviewers were unanimous in praising Narain's performance as Mohammed Abdul Rahiman Sahib.

In 2012 Tamil Film Mugamoodi - 'A super hero movie travels on a terrain that's new to Tamil cinema', directed by Myshkin, he portrayed as Villain. He acted with Mohan Lal in director B. Unnikrishnan's movie 'Grand master' and with Prithviraj in Lal Jose's movie 'Ayalum njanum thammil' in 2012. Both films did well in the box office.

In 2013 Narain played supporting role in a multi star movie kammath and kammath directed by Thomson K. Thomas which was a huge crowd puller at the initial time. Mega star Mammootty and Dileep were in the lead roles. He acted a key role in a musical drama film 'Three dots' directed by Sugeeth, Kunchako Boban and Biju Menon were in the lead roles.

The actor has secured some interesting projects in Malayalam, including EMSum Penkuttiyum,[3] Jewel Thief[4] and Mumbai Dosth.[5][6] He will be playing the lead role for the remake of the famous Kamal Hassan movie Kaakki Sattai.[7]
