Panamá is a province of Panama. It contains the national capital Panama City, which also serves as its provincial capital. The governor of the province is Rafael Pino Pinto, appointed by President Varela and sworn in on 4 July 2014.[1]
Districts
The province currently comprises six districts. The five former districts west of the Panama Canal were split off to form Panamá Oeste Province on 1 January 2014.[2]
- Balboa District. Corregimientos are San Miguel (capital), La Ensenada, La Esmeralda, La Guinea, Pedro González and Saboga.
- Chepo District. Corregimientos are Chepo (capital), Cañita, Chepillo, El Llano, Las Margaritas, Santa Cruz de Chinina, Madungandí and Tortí.
- Chimán District. Corregimientos are Chimán (capital), Brujas, Gonzalo Vásquez, Pásiga and Unión Santeña.
- Panamá District. Corregimientos are Panama City (capital), San Felipe, El Chorrillo, Santa Ana, La Exposición o Calidonia, Curundú, Betania, Bella Vista, Pueblo Nuevo, San Francisco, Parque Lefevre, Río Abajo, Juan Díaz, Pedregal, Ancón, Chilibre, Las Cumbres, Pacora, San Martín, Tocumen, Las Mañanitas and 24 de Diciembre.
- San Miguelito District. Corregimientos are San Miguelito (capital), Amelia Denis De Icaza, Belisario Porras, José Domingo Espinar, Mateo Iturralde, Victoriano Lorenzo, Arnulfo Arias, Belisario Frías, Omar Torrijos, Rufina Alfaro.
- Taboga District. Corregimientos are Taboga (capital), Otoque Occidente, Otoque Oriente.
