All railway stations in South Sudan are on the Babonasa-Wau line, which was built from 1959 to 1962. During the Second Sudanese Civil War, the line was badly damaged and parts of the line were mined, but with $250 million from United Nations funds it was fully restored in 2010[1]

Gauge

The existing line from Sudan is 1,067 mm (3 ft 6 in) gauge, however new lines to Ethiopia and Kenya are to be 1,435 mm (4 ft 8 1⁄2 in) gauge.
