Sapphire is a town in the Central Highlands Region, Queensland, Australia. Situated in a locality called The Gemfields, sapphires are mined extensively in the area. At the 2006 census, Sapphire had a population of 550.[1]

Geography

The terrain around the Sapphire is flat. The highest point in the vicinity is 282 meters above sea level, 1.0 km west of Sapphire. The region is sparsely populated. Sapphire is the largest community in the district.
