Awards Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves

Georg Sattler (14 April 1917 – 30 August 1944) was a German Luftwaffe pilot and recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves during World War II. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and its higher grade Oak Leaves was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Sattler and his crew of the Junkers Ju 88 were killed during the takeoff for a relocation flight on 30 August 1944 at Melsbroek near Brussels, Belgium. A heavy gust of wind had caused the accident during the takeoff procedure. He was buried at Evere near Brussels. He was posthumously awarded the Oak Leaves to his Knight's Cross on 6 December 1944.
