Location of Ste. Genevieve County, Missouri

Minnith is an unincorporated community located in the southern part of Beauvais Township in Sainte Genevieve County, Missouri. The town lies 12 miles to the south of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri.[1]

Name

Minnith was named by Miles A. Gilbert of St. Marys, a local judge, because of the abundance of wheat growing in the fields. The name "Minnith" was referenced to an Ammonite town mentioned in the Hebrew Bible books of Judges (Judges 11:33) and Ezekiel (Ezekiel 27:17) as a location from which wheat was exported to Tyre, Lebanon:

Judah, and the land of Israel, they were thy merchants, they traded in thy market wheat of Minnith, and Pannag, and honey, and oil, and balm.”[2][3]
