Dainhat is a Town and a municipality under Katwa police station and Katwa subdivision,^[1] in Bardhaman district in the state of West Bengal, India.

As of 2011 India census,^[2] Dainhat had a population of approximately 24390. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Dainhat has an average literacy rate of 66%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72% and, female literacy is 59%. In Dainhat, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Dainhat is 137 km from Howrah on the Bandel-Katwa Branch Line.^[3]

From Burdwan It's 60 km by Bus you can reach.Dainhat has a Ferry facility which is connecting with Matiyari{Nadia District} through Ganges River.

Culture

বর্ধমান জেলার দাঁইহাট জনপদ কাটোয়া মহকুমার প্রাচীন শহর।পূর্বতন নাম "ইন্দ্রাণী নগর", মোগল আমলের এক সমৃদ্ধশালী নগর। ইতিহাসের পাতা থেকে দাঁইহাটের গৌরবময় অতীতের কথা ক্ষীণ হয়ে গেলেও, আজকের দিনে এই দাঁইহাট মানুষের মনে গেঁথে গেছে রাস উৎসবের জন্য। দাঁইহাটের রাস বহু প্রাচীন, এই রাস উৎসবের পুরনো নাম "পট পূর্ণিমা", দাঁইহাট রাস উৎসবের অন্যতম আকর্ষণ হল বৈষ্ণবীয় ও শাক্তমতের মেল বন্ধন। ইতিহাস থেকে জানা যায় যে, দাঁইহাটের রাস নবদ্বীপ বা শান্তিপুরের রাসের তুলনায় অনেক পুরনো। কারন শ্রী চৈতন্য দেবের সমকালীন কৃষ্ণানন্দ আগম্বাগীশ এখানে কালি মূর্তি পুজা প্রচলন করেন। আমাদের দাঁইহাটে তার আগে থেকেই শৈব্য তান্ত্রিকদের প্রভাব লক্ষ্য করা যায়। সুতরাং কার্ত্তিক পূর্ণিমার দিনটির তখন রাস উৎসব নাম না থাকলেও "পট পূর্ণিমা" হিসেবে জৌলুস পূর্ণ উৎসবের আয়োজনের করার রেওয়াজ চলে আসছে। আবার অনেকে মনে করেন দাঁইহাটের রাস কোচবিহারের শাক্ত রাজবংশীদের হাত ধরে এসেছে।তাঁদের ব্যবসার সুত্রে কোচবিহার থেকে নবদ্বীপ হয়ে দাঁইহাটে আসেন এবং সাথে আসেন তান্ত্রিক সাধক ভগীরথ সিংহ। এনাদেরই প্রচেষ্টায় পটে আঁকা শবশিব মাতার মূর্তি নিয়ে ১১০৫ সালে কার্ত্তিক পূর্ণিমায় সূচনা হয় রাস উৎসবের, যা আজও পর্যন্ত চলে আসছে অতীতের গৌরব কে সমহিমায় বহন করে আসছে।
